Insomnia

night may fall and break
and form a nasty scar within
tomorrow’s everlasting truth
and wane before you ever knew

so kindly won’t you sacrifice
a dime to buy what remains
lonely, spare, and tickled

find out when the caeser dies
so kingdoms come alive with
mustard, pickles, sour faces
ringing loud so far away
like the time we spent the night in silence
tomorrow’s happiness has triumphed
but in the mind, and mind me bright
together will a future
with a suture
and tip my hat to all who wrang
their coats until every drop collapsed
upon a sidewalk cracked and marred
with decade old chewing gum, and cigarettes
to see more friendship in this city
would feign another happy time
and then good night is all we’ll here
together once, forever still
